Culture or tradition is the identity of every Religion and State. Broadly speaking, culture or tradition is passed down from one generation to another and implemented in everyday life. Our ancestors would want the next generation to keep the preservation of their heritage. The relics can be material and non-material. Material relics such as paintings, sculptures, and statues. Meanwhile, non-material relics in the form of language or dialect, traditional ceremonies, and norms. The community-owned tradition aims to make people's lives rich in cultural and historical values. In addition, the tradition will also create a harmonious life. However, it will be realized only if humans appreciate, honor, and run a tradition properly and correctly and according to the rules.

The state can only safeguard and protect the traditions that already exist and grow in Indonesian society. Because the State is the agency (tool) of society that has the power to regulate human relationships in society and curb the symptoms of power in society. Therefore the State has the name of the Act as a rule that must be obeyed and respected by every society or citizen of Indonesia.

Apart from that, of course, people also have a religion as a separate role model and a belief in the God of the creator, and has a tradition and religious customs that dianutnya although customs are sometimes identical to the culture where human existence itself. Moreover, the people of Indonesia, which has various religious beliefs such as Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Konghuchu and Islam. However, since the majority of the Religion of the people or the citizens of Indonesia is Islam, then the famous tradition in Indonesian Islamic society is the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Because the Prophet's Mawlid is a gift from Islam itself, in the present context especially in Java island, Maulid merges with Javanese culture or tradition. As with any past culture in the Kingdom, where written data on the history of the Mawlid is usually present in archives written by Royal officials, the Mawlid celebrations in Indonesia can also be traced through written data of the legacy of the royal poets.

In Javanese culture, the Prophet's Mawlid is an acculturation of local tradition contained in ancient Javanese rituals of Hindu Javanese kings populated by Islamic culture. Therefore, the tradition of Maulid in Indonesia may be different from the tradition of Maulid outside Indonesia, because it has characteristic and acculturation of local culture.

With regard to this Mawlid, Habib Luthfi bin Yahya has a unique view. According to him, the mawlid is not just a ceremonial event and pleasantries. The mawlid is a flood of love that is so strong to the datuk, Prophet Muhammad SAW. Because of his love for Rasulullah SAW, the topic of conversation about Rasulullah will be endless, and to glorify the birthday of the Prophet the law is obligatory for every believer. Because Maulid memorial shows gratitude. Gratitude for the grace of faith, Islam, and ihsan. Had the Prophet not been born we would not have known what faith, Islam and ihsan, there would not even be the Qur'an.

The existence of Mulid tradition held by Habib Luthfi bin Yahya, in addition to developing and preserving the tradition of Islam, also reconstruct the spirit of nationalism of Indonesia which is considered to be flexible and almost lost the national identity. In order to implement the obligations on the citizens of Indonesia who are sensitive to the existence and problematika of the Indonesian nation, through art, traditions and culture that exist in the community. But this spirit of nationalism should be interpreted as a sense of nationality of every citizen to the State by adding Nationalism as a spiritual area and moral commitment.
